ATM Fraud & Cash Trapping

ATM fraud can involve hidden cameras, keypad overlays, or devices designed to "trap" cash withdrawals so fraudsters can retrieve the money later.

Warning Signs:
  • The ATM screen looks different than usual or has an unusual delay.
  • A loose or sticky card slot or keypad, which may indicate a skimming or trapping device.
  • Your card is inserted, but the ATM fails to return it.

How to Stay Safe:
  • Use ATMs in well-lit, secure locations, preferably inside bank branches.
  • Cover the keypad when entering your PIN to prevent hidden cameras from capturing it.
  • If an ATM does not return your card or money, report it to Fahey Bank immediately.
