Beware of “Unresolved Payment” Scams Targeting Fahey Customers

A new scam is making its way into Marion and it’s hitting your mobile devices fast. Fraudsters are sending text messages pretending to be from legitimate banks, claiming there’s an “unresolved payment” or “failed transaction” that needs your attention. The message often includes a link to “verify” or “resolve” the issue.

If you receive one of these messages, do not click the link and do not respond.

What the Scam Looks Like

Customers have reported receiving text messages that say things like:

“Fahey Bank: Your recent payment could not be processed. Please click here to verify your information.”

or

“Unresolved transaction alert: Visit this link to confirm your account details.”

These messages may look convincing, using real-sounding language, our name, or even similar web addresses, but they are not from Fahey Bank.

How These Scammers Trick You

Scammers use SMS phishing, also known as “smishing,” to get you to click a malicious link. Once you do, they may:

  • Ask for your online banking login
  • Steal your personal or financial information
  • Install malware on your phone
  • Attempt to drain your accounts

What You Should Do

  • Delete the message immediately. Don’t click any links or reply.
  • Never share your password, PIN, or personal details over text or email.
  • Call us directly at 740-382-8231 or visit your local branch in Marion, Ohio if you’re unsure about any message you receive.
